December 2012 – Bus Trip

2012 Bus Trip – Caboolture Air Museum and Bribie Island Seaside Museum

On Monday 10th December 2012 the North Pine Historical Society members undertook a Bus Trip to visit the Caboolture Air Museum and the Bribie Island Seaside Museum. 18 members went on the trip and all had a lovely day out.

We started the day with a morning tea at Society HQ (Pine Rivers Heritage Museum). Cr David Dwyer was our designated driver for the day and he did a great job.

We started off at Caboolture Air Museum and the displays were incredible. There were hundreds of model aircraft to view and a number of operational warbirds to see. The Beaufort Bomber that is being restored was of particular interest and it appears to be coming along nicely.

After our enjoyable stay at the Air Museum we went on to the Bribie Island Sports Club for a delicious lunch stop, where our members enjoyed their lunch and a refreshing cold beverage before heading on to the Bribie Island Seaside Museum.

At the Bribie Island Seaside Museum we were treated to a narration of the highlights of the museum by one of the Volunteers before having free time to explore the many unique features of the Museum. The current show here was “Intriguing Illusions” and it was very interesting.

The Museum staff kindly provided us with a biscuit and cuppa, and some members took time out for a paddle in the inviting waters of Bribie Island, after we said farewell to Bribie Island and returned to Pine Rivers Heritage Museum.

Overall, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable day out and a big “well done” to the organisers of this trip is in order I think.
