AH&I Pine Rivers (Lawnton) Memorial Gates

History

In 1923 after a public subscription campaign raised sufficient funds, A L Petrie & Son constructed the memorial entrance gate at the AH&I Pine Rivers (Lawnton) Showground.  They were officially opened at the 1923 Pine Rivers Show by the Queensland Governor, Sir Matthew Nathan on 28th July 1923, and the wives and mothers of the servicemen were presented with life membership badges in the form of a broach from the Show Society.

The Gates were moved to Kallangur in 1986, to outside the Norths Leagues & Services Club at Kallangur.

It lists 28 servicemen from all corners of the old Pine Shire, known to have paid the ultimate sacrifice for King and Country.
